MADISON ‑ The Rose City Steppers will head out for a walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, meeting in the parking lot behind the Madison Junior School at 160 Main St., in the driveway off Brittin Street.
The club’s monthly Saturday walk on Oct. 10 will include a stroll through Hillside Cemetery between Main Street and Kings Road, found on Walk Map No. 2 in the “Madison Walks” book. Walk maps and information about the cemetery will be provided to participants.
Summer Wrap-up
The club’s weekly summer Wednesday walks concluded Sept. 9 with the traditional ice cream stop at McCool’s Ice Cream on Main Street. Walk leader Steven Fulda pointed out the site of the original Bottle Hill Tavern in James Park off Madison Avenue, and shared some of the history of the tavern with the group. This summer the Steppers walked 18 of the 19 planned weekly walks, canceling only once due to threatening weather. Next summer’s weekly walks will start again on May 5, 2010.
