Working Well New Jersey is a partnership between the NJ Department of Personnel and the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services, as well as some of the largest and most highly regarded non-profit health agencies in the country. Working Well New Jersey is designed to provide public employees with critical information on health promotion, disease prevention, resources for coping and tips for living and working well. In conjunction with other Departments throughout the State, Working Well New Jersey organizes activities on a statewide level focused on bringing information and education to public employees on wellness issues. The goal of this program is to promote physical and mental health and healthy lifestyle choices; like eating right, exercising, quitting smoking, and more. The program promotes regular physical activity, healthy living choices and regular medical checkups, NJDOP can set the standard for all of New Jersey’s employers. The initiative will also empower every employee with the knowledge and resources to improve their overall health and the health of their families. The program will further provide employers with a consistent and comprehensive approach and a model plan for creating a healthy work environment. By promoting and supporting employee health and wellness through existing organizational channels, we will change the culture and build a stronger workforce.
Working Well NJ is tapping into existing resources in every department and agency of the State, as well as with nonprofits throughout the country, to promote healthy work environments and healthy lifestyle choices. The partnership with the Department of Health and Senior Services provides access to critical studies, information and recommendations from a variety of noted health professionals and county and statewide organizations and resources. Critical nonprofit and provider alliances will give New Jersey’s public employees access to professionals who can answer their questions, can provide targeted information and referral services.
