Visit Downtown Ramsey on October 4th for a Day of Food and Fun!

On October 4th, the Borough of Ramsey, along with the Ramsey Historical Association, will be hosting “A Taste of Ramsey/Ramsey Farmer’s Market Day,” This event, carried over from two of last year’s most successful Centennial Events, promises to be a day of delicious fun!  Located at the Main Street train station, the day begins at 10am with a farmer’s market.  in the train station parking lot.  Local farmers will be on hand to sell a wide variety of organic fruit, cider, corn, herbs, homemade cheeses, baked goods, balsamic and olive oil blends, pickles, pasta and seafood.  In addition, local artisans will be offering for sale unique handmade pottery, soaps, skincare products, handcrafted tote bags and accessories, and infant gifts.  Local musicians will also be performing to add to the wonderful sights and sounds of the day!

At 1pm, make your way under the big tent to experience A Taste of Ramsey, where you can sample signature dishes from local eateries.  The list of participating restaurants includes Apolo’s Restaurant, Brady’s At the Station, Café Panache, Chez Dominique Catering, Jersey Burgers, King Pizza, Mosaic, Pub 17, Ramsey Corner Café, The Ramsey Golf & Country Club, Sweet Station and Varka Estiatorio.  The Ramsey Golf and Country Club will also be hosting a wine tasting area (ages 21 and over only, proof of age will be required at the entrance).  Live music will be played throughout the afternoon by Ramsey’s own Mary’s Basement.

Members of the public are also invited to enter the Healthy Appetizer Cooking Contest as part of the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign.  There will be prizes for the top three recipe winners, including free fitness sessions at Get-Fit, a local boot-camp style fitness program, and a signed copy of “It’s Just Personal, A Personal Chef’s Essential Guide to Shopping, Cooking and Eating Smarter,” written by Ellen Posotlowski, personal chef.  Sign-up for the cook-off at Ramsey Borough Hall through September 25th.

Food and beverage tickets will be sold at the door, and are redeemable, dollar for dollar, for purchases.  There will be a $10 minimum total ticket purchase per adult but no minimum purchase for children.  Menu items are typically priced from $1 to $3 each.  Wine tasting tickets will be sold separately, at $2 per tasting with a 5 tasting per person maximum.

The event will be held rain or shine!  In addition to street parking, parking will be available in the rear of the Train Station Lot (accessible only from Maple Street) and at the Municipal Lot on North Central Avenue across from Borough Hall.
