CHATHAM – The borough is actively supporting the state’s Mayors Wellness Campaign mounting a healthy eating contest.
On Friday, Jan. 1, the Chatham Borough Mayors Wellness Advisory Board will be sponsoring a Healthy Eating Contest, which will take place in Chatham restaurants.
“Nearly 100 percent of the restaurants in town are participating,” Chatham Borough Mayor Nelson Vaughan said.
The contest, which will run from January through March, will culminate in an award and recognition ceremony honoring the winners and participating restaurants at Borough Hall in April.
Each restaurant can submit an entry in one or all of three categories including the main course, appetizer and desserts and beverages. Each entry will be designated on the menu by a Mayor’s Contest Item sticker and ballots will be available at all restaurants.
“If your goal for the new year is to start doing something for yourself, your health, and your general well being, the Mayors Wellness Campaign Advisory Board encourages you get out and walk, check out the cable programs and eat healthy and tasty food at the Chatham Borough restaurants,” Vaughan said.
